The DC consortium has already disappointed millions of their fans earlier this year with the Dawn Of Justice and if that was not enough, Suicide Squad surely takes the cake. The trailer showed us a psychotic and amazingly talented Joker( Jared Leto ), Will Smith and Margot Robbie as part of the DC villain force and with further trailers with Flash and Batman, the mammoth snowball was all set to roll this Friday.
Suicide Squad, featuring a brand new addition of actors to the DC family, like the previous DC movies, fails to explain its purpose. Yes, you are startled by the likes of Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Ben Affleck as the major DC comic characters, but they all seem to be not only pointless, but also put in a story that has neither head nor tail. The movie opens with the world still recovering from the shock of the Superman’s collapse and the FBI is all set to gather a task force to substitute the Man Of Steel, enter, the Suicide Squad, a bunch of criminals, psychopaths and lunatics with a special skill set to save the world. This may sound truly bad ass and thrilling, but trust me, it isn’t.
Despite the suicide squad, what had the people on their feet was Jared Leto, the new Joker. Yes, he does excite you, amaze and startle you, but only in bits and pieces. Missing from a major chunk of the movie, director David Ayer plans to save the biggest DC villain for future sequels. Despite the perfect chemistry of the Suicide Squad members, music from Steven Price is a treat. The sound design and the back ground scores are amazing and one of the few things that keep your mood in the theatre.
Suicide Squad, has a very short script with a first half which you would want to forget and a second half which adds some meaning to the movie and DC Comics. Despite a number of squad members, Will Smith and Margot Robbie and Jay Hernandez play a prominent role in the film and in saving the United States from the wrath of the Enchantress, another villain from the DC family.
Major flaws in the story, characterization of the supporting Suicide Squad members, missing major characters and a promising Joker appearing in intervals are the pain points of another disappointing DC film. Suicide Squad is strictly only for the DC Comic fans and not for the common public as the movie miserably fails to stay up to its hype.
